We at Troy Township know this project is creating an inconvenience but ask that you please exercise patience and caution when traveling in this areas.

A Message from Highway Commissioner Thomas R. Ward
The Troy Township Road District is aware of the construction on the Frontage Road at the viaduct traveling under I-80 and heading to the Camelot Subdivision, Oak Lane, and Leisure Lakes. This road is temporarily reduced to one-lane under the viaduct with controlled traffic signals to direct traffic.
Here are some facts I would like residents to be aware of:
- Emergency Vehicles: IDOT and Troy Township have worked directly with the Troy Fire Department who traveled the reduced one-lane route with its largest emergency response vehicle. The emergency response vehicle was able to navigate the route without any issues.
- First responders will always have priority when navigating the one-lane road.
- Service Vehicles: Troy Township Road District traveled the reduced one-lane route with its equipment and will have no issues providing services such as leaf vacuuming and snow removal/salting.
- Traffic Signals: The traffic signals are timed to allow traffic to clear the one lane section before allowing traffic from the other direction to proceed. Please be patient and obey the traffic signals.
- IDOT engineers have informed the Township that the one-lane road condition will last until approximately December 15, 2024. The road will be back to its normal two-lane condition for the duration of the winter.
We know this one-lane condition is not ideal. We know that it will delay your travel. We also know that this project is much needed as IDOT works to improve the safety of Interstate 80 throughout this region. I ask that you have patience and allow yourself extra time when traveling through this area. Please make sure to exhibit extra caution and obey the traffic signals that are directing the one-lane traffic.
