Long-Term Care Ombudsman Presenation 6:00pm
Troy Township and Catholic Charities Diocese of Joliet Present “You Have Rights” Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program
TROY TOWNSHIP, SHOREWOOD, IL – Long-term care can be a confusing and stressful experience not only for the long-term care resident but also for their loved ones. Join Troy Township and Catholic Charities Diocese of Joliet for the “You Have Rights” Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program presentation and let us help you understand residents’ rights.
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) is a state and federal mandated program. The LTCOP advocates for residents in all long-term care facilities in both short-term rehab and long-term care. Residents under Ombudsman jurisdiction include the elderly, people with physical and/or mental disabilities and the developmentally disabled.
Ombudsmen are true advocates who take direction from the resident. Ombudsmen educate residents about their rights, good care practices and similar services including resources in the community. Ombudsmen advocate for change to improve resident’s quality of life and care while in the facility and ensure residents have access to Ombudsman services.
The goal of the LTCOP is to protect the rights and dignity of all adults who live in long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen strive to empower residents to self-determine what they want in their life by supporting residents’ decision-making abilities while living in these facilities.
This FREE presentation will take place at the Troy Township Community Center on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Troy Township Community Center is located at 25448 Seil Rd. in Shorewood.
