There is an elected township tax collector in just five Illinois counties – Cook, Madison, Peoria, Sangamon and Will. Township tax collectors are prohibited in counties with populations less than 150,000.

TROY TOWNSHIP COLLECTOR JOHN THEOBALD, a long time Troy Township resident was elected Collector in 2009. John is employed by ExxonMobil as a Process Supervisor at the Joliet Refinery. His organizational memberships include President of the Troy Township Fire Department, American Legion Post 1080 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300. John is married and has two children.
